New York Therapeutic Communities – Unpaid Overtime Wages

Kessler Matura P.C. filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of current and former New York employees of New York Therapeutic Communities Inc. (“NYTC”). This lawsuit sought to recover unpaid wages, along with liquidated damages, owed to those employed as Substance Abuse Counselors, CASAC and CASAC-T Counselors, Peer Advocates, and similar positions (together “Counselors”) who worked over 40 hours a week at any time since February 26, 2016.

Our complaint alleged that NYTC denied overtime pay to Counselors by unlawfully paying them a set salary, regardless of the number of hours they worked. NYTC Counselors worked at various locations throughout New York City. Counselors worked beyond their standard schedule without overtime pay – regularly working from home, coming in early, working through lunch, and staying after the end of their shifts.
