Former Fox anchor speaks out about harassment

A former anchor for network giant Fox News has begun to speak publicly about her accusations of sexual harassment in the workplace. Having freshly filed a lawsuit of sexual harassment against her former employer, Roger Ailes, Ms. Gretchen Carlson claims that Mr. Ailes made some sexual advances toward her and then subsequently had her fired after she began to complain about sexual harassment throughout the network’s workplace.

According to the claim she filed, she took several meetings with Mr. Ailes throughout her tenure at Fox News, where she expressed her complaints of sexual harassment. She goes on to allege that not only were her claims of sexual harassment not heeded, but Mr. Ailes proceeded to say several demeaning comments to her in response to her claims.

New York Magazine helped bring the story to the forefront of the national conversation last week when it published a controversial story of six women, may of whom chose to remain anonymous, who all alleged sexual harassment at the hands of Mr. Ailes from the 1960s to the 1990s.

Sexual harassment is a serious matter that can arise in any workplace, not matter the prominence of that workplace or which ideologies it espouses. Sadly, for all the progress that has been made in eradicating inappropriate behavior in the workplace, these kinds of situations are still all too common. Those who believe they are victims of workplace sexual harassment may find that the representation of an experienced workplace discrimination attorney can help protect their rights and ensure and equitable resolution.
